-Jeff & Jen
Jen first entered the Hospitality industry at the young age of 17 - before she couldn even legally serve Margaritas at the Mexican restaurant where she worked! After studying International Political Economy and Spanish at Colorado College, she went on to work at A Bar A Ranch in Encampment, Wyoming as a Wine Steward and Server. This experience created an unparalleled love for events as they would set up luxurious lunch events by the pool and Friday night camp-dinner buffets at Slim’s Draw.
From there, Jen adventured to Three Forks Ranch in Savery, Wyoming where she worked as a Server. This dynamic team setting was River Picnics by day and fine dining by night, reinforcing her love of hospitality and events. At Three Forks she discovered the art of truly connecting with guests, and how to quickly build relationships that last.
Just a hop, skip, and a jump from Three Forks Ranch, Jen settled in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where she landed at the Rex’s Family of Restaurants. Little did she know that working for Rex would shape her life forever. At Rex’s American Grill & Bar, Jen started as a Breakfast Server and worked her way through the ranks as a Dinner Server, Catering Staff, then Catering & Hospitality Manager. In this role, Jen developed brand-wide Hospitality Training programs, and trained large groups, creating a cohesive Hospitality brand across six restaurants in the renowned ski town. She worked alongside General Managers and the Executive Team to perfect staffs’ Guest Connection skills. She also sold and managed events, growing the Catering business for the group.
Jen has led Hospitality Trainings for the Steamboat Springs Chamber for a variety of local businesses. Jen currently sells Real Estate for Steamboat Sotheby’s International Realty in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and creates Course Content, Hosts the Podcast Memorable Experiences, and Consults for Memorable Experiences Hospitality.
Jeff started as a ski bum by day, and Dishwasher by night, at a Mexican restaurant in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Then he saw an opportunity with a hotspot in town and moved to Front of House as a Busser at The SmokeHouse. As a Busser, he watched the Chefs in the kitchen, and thought it could be a fun way to work and grow his passion for cooking. Jeff loved cooking from a young age - it was always something that was easy and fun for him. Jeff officially made the move into the kitchen at the SmokeHouse, and never looked back.
He started smoking and slicing meats, then became the Kitchen Manager, and then General Manager of the restaurant. Jeff also ran the SmokeHouse Catering program - he has some great stories to share from that experience! It led him into his own Personal Chef business, Chef Jeff. Ready for a new adventure, Jeff moved to a national brand, The Chart House, as the Kitchen Manager, for several years. When he was offered the opportunity to move and open his own Chart House, he realized the Corporate world was not for him - “too many rules” as he likes to say. Instead, Jeff purchased a legendary Steamboat restaurant, Cugino’s, at 30 years old.
Jeff took Cugino’s from a small, cash-only restaurant with only 80 seats and robust take out business to a new, fully renovated location with 190 seats throughout a dining room, patio, and expansive deck. Cugino’s thrived for over 20 years until Jeff sold it in 2014. During that time Jeff opened a satellite Cugino’s Restaurant called Gino’s in neighboring Craig, Colorado where he also had concession stands for local Baseball fields. Jeff also owned a Baja style taco stand - Tacos Del Barco - in Downtown Steamboat Springs, that was a late night favorite for many visitors and locals alike.
In 2009 Jeff saw an opportunity, and opened 7th Street Liquor at the peak of the recession. Jeff’s expertise is his business acumen and he’s sharing with others to help their businesses flourish through Memorable Experiences Hospitality Podcast, Course Offerings, and Consulting.
